I owe a big apology to the author who should have been posted tomorrow, because I totally forgot to get in touch with her. It was a heck of a week, and I'm glad the weekend is here!
I'm curious--are you guys enjoying the Discovery Showcases? I don't get many comments on them, but comments are down in general, even though I get new Twitter subscriptions, Blogger followers and RSS subscribers every week. So I'm putting up a poll. Please come by and let me know whether you enjoy the Discovery Showcases or not. You are welcome to leave a comment here as well.

I always read the synopsis for a showcase. If it grabs me, I continue. {Smile}

Like Anna Elizabeth Baldwin I always read the synopsis and incase I find it interesting I read the rest. But to be honest I didn't leave a comment concerning the discovery showcase. I have to work on it.
It's like already published with the Big Boys books. If the intro grabs me, I read it.
edi, I'm not trying to demand that people leave comments. I just was wondering if no comments meant no interest.
I check the Discovery Showcase every week too. Please don't quit. Thanks for your hard work.
Got a vote for "The what? Huh?" and for some reason, it made me chuckle.
I'm a sometimes read them but again it depends if I like the look of the synopsis. I have actually bought books solely as a result of them so I'd hate to see them go!
I'm one of those who reads the synopsis and then a little bit of the writing before deciding whether or not to read the rest. I'm about half and half so far--half that I've read all the way to the end, and half that I quit after the first few paragraphs. I really love the idea of the Discovery Showcase. There's been some good stuff in there. If there's not enough interest and you have to take it away, I understand, but I do enjoy it.
I like it but, of course, I'm a little biased. I'm kind of in the same boat, though, regarding the [lack of] comments. I guess I'm just so used to getting feedback from my writer's group (negative or otherwise) that I just expect people to be willing to blast it. AEB's first comment here bothered me all weekend, as I'm afraid "Avatar" does not grab the attention I want it to.
Sometimes I wonder if I wouldn't encourage comments if I got the ball rolling by offering my opinion in the first comment. But I kind of wanted to keep myself out of it by offering a neutral place to post your work. However, I review everything else around here, so may I should review these as well (or at least offer as much an opinion as I can on a first chapter).
Opinions?
I vote yes for your review, even a small one. Whether that gets the ball rolling or not, it's still at least one comment on the work. Plus, your opinion does hold value like you said because you review everything else. Up to you, though, since standing back also makes sense.
I'm sorry, T.D. I wish I could read everything that came my way. However, I'm strapped enough for time, I have to draw some lines somewhere. I'm afraid that a story by an unknown author with neither a gripping entry or a promise from a source I trust that it's worth continuing is one of the easier things to cut out. {apologetic smile}

No reason to apologize! I just prefer negative feedback to no feedback, that was my point; don't want you bottling things up inside when they could be improving my story. Anyway, don't worry about it.
Okay. Thanks, T.D. {SMILE}
