Debuts Wanted!

I'm running low on Debut Showcases so I thought I'd post a reminder--you can always let me know about an upcoming novel using this form. I usually only showcase books that are published by major, traditional publishers, but I make exceptions if the publisher seems exceptional. For example, ChiZine has started publishing books, and I put one of their novels on my calendar.

So if you're a newly-signed author, please let me know about it! It helps me out tremendously because I don't have to do as much research, and therefore I can use the time to cover more stuff.

Maybe it's time for Fantasy Debut to evolve beyond the Debut. Have the debut of Fantasy genre novels be the centerpeice always, of course, but evolve to include more non-debut novels.

Just a thought.

Check out my recent archives. Half of the novels I've reviewed here recently have been non-debuts. And I'm about to review 3 books in a mystery series.

Limiting to mostly debuts is my way of keeping the scope of this blog managable. I had a chaotic summer, which is why I haven't been posting as often. But things are settling down now, and I'm ready to get back into the swing of things.

I'll get right on that, but it might take a while.

You could make a spin on the "debut" angle. I'd be interested in reading reviews of the debuts of established authors. That could be cool.

Yeah, I can imagine what it can mean to suddenly run out of books in the guidelines you have set for yourself. How about if you can move on to the debut of a series. It's just as important and well there are series popping up frequently, so plenty of opportunities.

PS: Please e-mail me about your eventual participation in Reviewer Time on August the 30th. Pretty please.

Lea, I've done a few of those. They are tagged as "Historical Debuts", so you can search on that in the search bar along the top of the page.

Harry, most of what I review turns out to be the start of a series. Or do you mean the debut of any series, whether or not the author is new? Interesting . . .

I'll have to send that email tonight.

What I meant was just any series. :) In today's world of publishing there can only be as many debutees and we all know that currently publishers are more likely to invest in their more known authors rather than find a new face. People like C.E Murphy handle many series within their career, so it would certainly increase your reading field, if you look into the debut of new series. Another twist would be to look in the archives of older series or well known authors and brush the dust off and get it out in the air again.

PS: Thanks. I will be waiting for your e-mail.
