Top Referring Blogs

These are the top ten referrers to Fantasy Debut over the life of this blog. Thanks for sending all the traffic over the years!

  1. Pat's Fantasy Hotlist - 2,655
  2. Fantasy Book Critic - 2,255
  3. Graeme's Fantasy Book Review - 1,128
  4. Lisa Shearin - 701
  5. OF Blog of the Fallen - 690
  6. Star Captain's Daughter - 646
  7. Fantasy Book Reviewer - 626
  8. Aidan Moher - 505
  9. Speculative Horizons - 484
  10. Darque Reviews - 483
I've noticed that blogs that prominently display their blogroll tend to send the most traffic. That's why I like to keep my blogroll up near the top of my own blog. Hopefully, I'm also sending some good traffic elsewhere!

I'm still working out the details of a couple more giveaways; I hope to be able to post something later today.

Thanks for the tip.

I'd have to say you are sending traffic elsewhere, and doing so very well, as you're one of the top ones for my blog.
Thanks

Thanks, Elena! Cool!

Wow that's interesting. I do find it a little odd that there is such a big gap between 3 and 4 though :)

I think it's because the top three have mind-blowing web traffic.

Very interesting. Thank you.
And Cindy is right: What a big gap between 3 and 4.
And even more interesting that 9 of ten are real blogger. As you know Lisa Shearin is an author....

Lisa Shearin is a blogging author, and my referrals from her site come from her blog. I'm thrilled to be on her blogroll!

Her blog is so successful that she's landed a column in a writer's magazine based on her blog. So you could call her a professional blogger as well as a professional author.

I just noticed your post in a link on Technorati. I'm guessing you used Google Analytics to arrive at these numbers? I suspect there might be a few things distorting the numbers, as I don't think I expanded my blogroll until late 2007/early 2008 (plus I didn't register with GA until April 2008), so that might have a role to play in the dip you see.

But maybe not. I did a check to see who all has referred to my own blog since April 2008 and the numbers were interesting. I think it's all due to direct links - I rarely direct link to any non-author blog these days, so I think that might have affected the numbers, as the blogs that gave me the most traffic usually direct linked to me at least a few times a year.

And for the record, your blog only referred to mine about 200 times over the past 14 months, but surely your traffic is larger than 1/3 of mine? I'm guessing it might be the hot-linking at play, if anything. Interesting results, though.

They should all be links off a blogroll or direct links. I noticed one thing in common with all of these blogs--they have short, selective blogrolls.

In any case, thanks for all the referrals!

Didn't think of that. Yeah, that might explain matters, as I have something close to 100 blogs linked there, I think. And of course you're welcome - just thought I'd see if I could puzzle out the dip a bit :P
