Blurb:
By all accounts, Sirantha Jax should have burned out years ago…
As the carrier of a rare gene, Jax has the ability to jump ships through grimspace—a talent which cuts into her life expectancy, but makes her a highly prized navigator for the Corp. But then the ship she’s navigating crash-lands, and she’s accused of killing everyone on board. It’s hard for Jax to defend herself: she has no memory of the crash.
Now imprisoned and the subject of a ruthless interrogation, Jax is on the verge of madness. Then a mysterious man breaks into her cell, offering her freedom—for a price. March needs Jax to help his small band of rogue fighters break the Corp monopoly on interstellar travel—and establish a new breed of jumper.
Jax is only good at one thing—grimspace—and it will eventually kill her. So she may as well have some fun in the meantime…
The concept in this novel reminds me of the Pilot-Masters from The Hidden Worlds, in that a special inborn ability gives one the ability to jump a spaceship into lightspeed. In fact, I see several similarities, but as in most of these cases, they are "similar but different." Over at The Good, the Bad and the Unread, Loonigrrl gave this novel a great review.

I have this one! Linnea Sinclair recommended it and the author was kind enough to send the electronic ARC. My review will be posted March 27, most likely.
It's fun to compare our reviews when we review the same book, Tia.
:o)
This looks very intriguing. May have to add it to my TBR pile soon.
This doesn't grab me. Don't know why. Maybe am assuming she's a tough gal type. I got so burned out on tough gal nihilistic types.
Kim, I don't have this one; this was a debut announcement only.
I always like reading the reviews of books I have covered.
Carole, that was one of the differences between this one and The Hidden Worlds. The girl in The Hidden Worlds was not tough at all. Although I enjoyed it, I don't think it would be for you.
Hi Tia! Hope you're feeling better now. :) This is definitely one I'd like to read.
Thanks, Kim! If you learned about it here, then I'm glad to bring it to your attention.
I loved this book, and you're right, I totally missed the similarities to THE HIDDEN WORLDS, but the similarities didn't bug me much. We'll see how similar the concepts really are when Landon's THE COLD MINDS comes out later this year.
I really can't wait to read The Cold Minds. That reminds me--I need to check in with the author to see if it has a release date yet.
I've got this on my wish list. It'll be something different from what I've been reading.
