I haven't read Esslemont yet, though. Honestly, while I didn't know what "verdigrised" meant, I did know "menhir" and "nictitated." I guess it depends on what you've been exposed to (I know menhir from reading about Stonehenge and from Glen Cook's Black Company series, and nictitation from random animal/science shows on TV that refer to blinking.)David H.https://www.blogger.com/profile/07423185701429663627noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5195356832263192713.post-89775457606537017352009-05-28T23:35:28.178-04:002009-05-28T23:35:28.178-04:00If your looking for an enjoyable, but not to heavy...If your looking for an enjoyable, but not to heavy read, I'd go with Clockwork Heart. The world-building is original, but not too deep, and the action & romance keep the story moving. :-)Reneehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15408227410388147148noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5195356832263192713.post-77016630871403453042009-05-28T18:35:34.939-04:002009-05-28T18:35:34.939-04:00I'll keep reading to see if the language eases up,...I'll keep reading to see if the language eases up, or if the story is such that I forget about the language.

Thanks for the tip about The Innocent Mage!Tia Nevitthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05489109929908389257noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5195356832263192713.post-23459677724896610482009-05-28T16:35:25.450-04:002009-05-28T16:35:25.450-04:00I agree about books that use words like "verdigris...I agree about books that use words like "verdigrised helm". It gets more interesting later, especially with some of the other main characters. I could have used a lot less of the character development at the beginning as you said, and I felt like it really only got to the point near the end.Kate Sheeran Swedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06834559757551839014noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5195356832263192713.post-71739165154228842752009-05-28T12:08:32.916-04:002009-05-28T12:08:32.916-04:00Clockwork Heart.
